Truckers Shipping Out as Warehouse Jobs Grow

Theme - Employment 56 U.S. 5325

The latest non-farm payroll report was below that expected by economists, while employment in transport and warehousing fell in September vs. August by 9,000. Trucking and rail employment fell by an aggregate 4,800, though growth in warehousing continued. Logistics related jobs still increased on a year earlier though, albeit by just 0.8%, led by warehousing and couriers. Old economy shipping jobs on the rails and water are still falling, by 10% and 2% respectively on a year earlier, but at least the rate of decline is slowing.
