Barbie and Lego’s Late Surge Saves Toy Import Season

U.S. toy imports had a late surge in the holiday season, with a 4% increase in November bringing the whole July-to-November season to 1% higher than the same period a year before. Video games led regular toys with a 6% increase in November, partly due to the success of Xbox. Lego saw a 40% jump in November, clearly having sorted out prior supply chain problems. Barbie remained the top importing brand despite the emergence of the American Girl range.
