China Boosts U.S. Trade Deficit, Ross Shows Patience For Now

The U.S. trade deficit, including goods and services, increased 24% on a year earlier and was 2% higher than economists’ expectations. This was mostly the result of another jump in imports of consumer goods, while the growth in exports of services failed to keep up. Exports of services may even contract in coming months as last year included Olympic broadcasting rights and travel bookings are reported to be falling.
