Hapag-Lloyd and CMA-CGM are adding new Europe-to-Brazil routes as part of the restructuring of their services. The latter’s is in part driven by its acquisition of Mercosul from Maersk. Both companies have already been expanding their market share. Hapag-Lloyd added 1.5% points on a year earlier to reach 16.4%, helped by its CSAV purchase. CMA-CGM meanwhile expanded by 0.5% points to 9.5%. Further opportunities to expand may come from the Brazilian government’s review of Maersk’s purchase of Hamburg Sud.
