German Brass Shines as ITC Polishes Off Duty Review

Germany 244 Materials - Metals/Mining 754 Metals - Copper 69 Mexico 885 Tariffs 1799 U.S. 5323

The U.S. ITC has voted to continue anti-dumping orders against exports of brass sheet and strip from four countries including Germany. Only one order has been revoked so far this year at its five yearly review, compared to four in 2016 and five in 2015. Panjiva data shows imports increased 12% in past 12 months on a year earlier, including a 5% rise in shipments from Germany in the past quarter on the prior three months. That suggests some German exporters – which still account for a 30% market share despite the tariffs – may have anticipated an end to the orders.
