German export managers’ expectations improved, according to the latest IFO survey, with the balance of positive expectations reaching its highest since January 2014. Automotive and electrical equipment managers had the biggest change of heart. This is a similar outlook to that of British managers, and matches a 4% increase in exports by the big three EU states in September according to Panjiva data. Yet, French managers have become more pessimistic, perhaps reflecting a higher intra-EU exposure.
