The Port of Savannah handled 12% more containers in December, the fastest rate of growth since June 2016, but still with the result that it handled 3% fewer TEUs in 2016 overall. The recovery has been driven by imports, which climbed 20% when excluding empties in December. This was helped by shipments from Europe, Panjiva data shows. The addition of four more cranes, bringing the total to 26, should allow growth to continue in 2017.
