Hanjin Shipping will close its European operations, according to the Wall Street Journal. This is a third part of its restructuring alongside the sale of its transpacific operations and its U.S. port assets. Panjiva analysis shows its European-centric operations accounted for 30% of group volumes shipped, but had already been in decline. Global volumes shipped fell 2% by 1Q16 vs. 1Q13, while Asia-Europe fell 7% and transatlantic dropped 66%.
