Chipmaker Intel reports earnings on October 18, with analysts expecting 8% revenue growth. Its growth is tied to computer sales. Consultant IDC sees the PC market shrinking globally, but increasing in the U.S. Panjiva data indicates U.S. imports of laptop, all-in-one, stand-alone and server computers increased 10% in the third quarter on a year earlier and 18% more than the second quarter. Comparing the third quarter to the second Acer imported 26% more shipments and HP Inc. grew by 14%. The losers were Dell, down 25%, and Lenovo which dropped 23%.
