Italy’s Problem Isn’t Selling Exports, It’s Getting Paid for Them

Italy’s exports fell 3% in October vs. a year earlier according to official figures, reversing two months of growth. There were lower exports across most major destination countries except Spain, China and Japan. The problem appears to be the value of exports rather than the volume. U.S.-bound exports increased 15%, Panjiva data shows, yet the euro value fell 2%.
