More than a month has passed since U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer gave South Korea 30 days notice for a special session to discuss the KORUS trade deal. A delay is unsurprising given North Korean tensions, but little progress appears to have been made. The South Korean Trade Minister has called for talks to only be held once causes of the deficit are defined. That could come from the U.S. “performance review” of trade deals due at the end of October.
