LAX Doesn’t Lack for Growth as California PCCI Climbs

LAX and Oakland airports handled 7% more airfreight in November, the eighth straight increase, resulting from a 9% rise in international imports to LAX. This may represent a continuation of conservative strategies by importers following Hanjin Shipping’s problems. The rate of increase is slowing though, suggesting this factor may be reaching maturity. Seaborne imports increased 6%, Panjiva data shows, with the net effect that the Panjiva Combined Cargo Index for California also increased 6.0%.
