The Port of Philadelphia will increase its capacity to 900,000 from 400,000 TEUs per year as a result of a $300 million investment. It handled 254,000 TEUs of imports annually in the past three years, Panjiva data shows, and has consistently grown quicker than the national average. Its 43% jump in volumes in the three months to October 31 vs. a year earlier compared to regional rival Wilmington’s 5%. Yet, Wilmington has its own growth plans too.
