Representatives of the Chinese Iron & Steel Association will meet with government officials today to discuss the outlook for production. A central concern in the near term is the impact of production on pollution, particularly ahead of this fall’s five-yearly party Congress. Exports are already falling. There was a 17% drop in June on a year earlier of all steel products, including a 71% slump in steel rod shipments.
