Spain’s ports handled 3.8% more containers than a year earlier in April, continuing a growth streak that has covered 17 of the past 18 months. The expansion was due to containers in transit, which increased 10%, while national imports/exports fell by 3%. That was despite a 21% rise in shipments to the U.S., Panjiva data shows. Potential disruptions in May were averted after dockworkers did not follow through on strike action plans.
