The footwear industry faces “continued supply chain disruption across the globe” according to Steve Madden’s CEO, Edward Rosenfeld. While the firm has made “a big move out of China” in recent years, shipments from China still represented 82.6% of U.S. seaborne imports linked to the firm in Q2’21. Steve Madden’s production is also exposed to factory closures in Vietnam which account for “pretty much all of our first tier products”.
