Subaru Sales Drive Depends on Local Production, not Exports

Fuji Heavy does not plan to increase Subaru car production short term to meet increased U.S. demand, the Wall Street Journal reports. Panjiva analysis of company financial data shows that its global exports increased 5% in September on a year earlier, but fell 5% on a quarterly basis. This was driven by a 23% drop in U.S. imports. Instead, the company is relying more on localized production. Its global overseas production has increased every month since July 2014 on a rolling quarterly basis, while U.S. components imports, partly for its Lafayette factory, climbed 5% in the third quarter...
