Industrial battery maker Enersys has incurred costs of $20 million in the current fiscal year due to U.S. tariffs or Chinese exports, or 7.8% of the prior year’s pre-tax profit. The firm has, however, “simply rerouted the Chinese product to Europe” according to CFO Michael Schmidtlein as well as having “been fairly successful in applying for and receiving exclusions (from tariffs) on some of the products”.
