Bear Bankruptcy, Russian Ferrovanadium Charge Add to Metals Case Pressure

The U.S. ITC has confirmed its earlier ruling that South Korean exports of ferrovanadium were dumped into the market. Since the case started one complainant, Bear Metallurgical, had entered bankruptcy and been taken over by Yilmaden, a Turkish producer. Furthermore while exports from South Korea dropped to zero since October, they have been more than replaced by shipments from Russia. These reached 63% of the total in February from zero in October. The case adds impetus to President Trump’s administration’s moves to tighten trade rules for the metals industry.
