Brown-Forman Stocks The Cabinet To Preempt Metal Duties Retaliation

Whisky distiller Brown-Forman, maker of Jack Daniels, reported a 6% rise in sales for the fiscal fourth quarter and expects growth in the coming year at a similar rate. One challenge is proposed EU duties on bourbon whisky in retaliation for the Trump administration’s section 232 tariffs on steel and aluminum. The EU accounted for 55% of all U.S. whisky exports in the past 12 months. Brown-Forman CFO Jane Morreau has indicated the company is preempting the duties by increasing inventory levels overseas.
