The U.S. ITC will proceed with investigations into Chinese exports of aluminum foil and exports of silicon metal from four countries including Brazil. Initial duties aren’t due until August 16 and August 15. Chinese foil shipments have yet to fall. Shipments were 32.5% higher on a year earlier in February. However, the petitions were only delivered in early March so may have come as a surprise. The same applies to silicon metal exports by Brazil, which jumped 357%.
