Chinese Steel Rolls Out of Europe, Into Vietnam

The European Commission has imposed definitive anti-dumping duties of up to 36% on Chinese hot-rolled flat steel. The case may be reviewed if China is successful in its market-economy status appeal at the WTO. Panjiva data shows the case is not hugely relevant for Chinese manufacturers. The EU only accounted for 12% of Chinese exports of the products in 2015, and while shipments fell 94% in the three months to January 31 on a year earlier, global shipments by manufacturers including Angang and Benxi increased 24%. That was due to increased shipments to Vietnam and South Korea.
