The European Commission has received concessions offered by Maersk for approval of its bid for Hamburg Sud. Maersk expects a decision by April 10. While the terms have not yet been made public, the EC’s approval of Hapag-Lloyd’s bid for UASC involved withdrawing from a U.S.-bound route consortium. One area of concession may be on Europe-Brazil lanes, where the combined entity would have a 39% share in the three months to January 31. That rises to 68% when 2M partner MSC is included.
