Dana dances past supply chain challenges with expedited freight, pricier steel

Automotive parts supplier Dana reported Q1’21 revenue growth of 17.5% year over year, beating analysts’ estimates by 11.5 percentage points as a result of “strength in the light-truck market”. Looking ahead, the firm is cautious regarding “the uncertain resolution to the (micro)chip shortage”. Dana also faces significantly higher costs as a result of steel price rises. U.S. seaborne imports linked to the firm surged 39.4% higher year over year in Q1’21 after a downturn during most of 2020.
