Mexican ports may soon feel the impact of a reduction in shipments from Asia linked to the coronavirus outbreak. Kansas City Southern’s CFO, Michael Upchurch, has stated that “60% of our container traffic at the port of Lazaro could see some disruption”, and is particularly focussed on the autos industry. China represented 18.8% of imports into the port of Lazaro Cardenas in 2019 followed by South Korea at 18.4%.
