Auto exports from South Korea increased 7% on a year earlier in April, led by a 10% growth from Kia and rise of 9% from Hyundai. General Motors, which produces smaller Chevrolet models in South Korea, expanded by just 2%. Panjiva data shows the U.S. was a target for growth by the manufacturers. Exports to the U.S. in April climbed 59%. That may prove counterproductive given sales of imported vehicles in the U.S. dropped 5% that month.
