New Orleans New Terminal Will Need Renewed Growth, 2M Cooperation

The Port of New Orleans has commissioned a study to look into developing a second container terminal to support the long-term growth of the regional economy. Inbound container handling in 2017 was unchanged vs. 2016 after three years of growth at a 9% rate. A return to growth may be needed to justify the investment. The port is also heavily exposed to Mexico, which accounted for 41% of traffic in the past three years.
