Panalpina, the Swiss integrated logistics operators, reported third quarter revenues 2% lower than the second quarter and 9% below analyst expectations. This miss may be explained by oceangoing volumes that fell 9% compared to a market that was unchanged. The company retains a negative outlook. Despite this, and a previous disappointment from K+N, Panjiva analysis shows analysts still expect shipping industry revenues to grow 8% in the third quarter vs. the second. This requires 6% sales growth from Maersk on November 2 and up to 18% by the Taiwanese shippers on November 10.
