Bayer raises, Torrent cuts supplies as Brazil lowers pharma import hurdles

The Brazilian government is cutting tariffs and regulations related to medical supply imports in order to tackle potential shortages linked to the coronavirus outbreak. Yet, it will still face limits caused by other countries’ export restrictions. Brazilian seaborne imports of pharmaceuticals increased by 1.5% year over year in January. That included a 10.5% surge in shipments from Europe which represented 69.5% of the total in 2019.
