CETA’s Lesson for TTIP’s Chaos

The past few days have been chaotic ones for TTIP, with Germany’s economy minister and France’s trade minister pouring cold water on the deal, only to be refuted by the Germany Chancellor, the Italian government and the EC. Should the same rules be applied as for CETA on national approvals for the deal, it may founder. Panjiva data shows EU exports to the U.S. have stagnated – a new deal is needed. All this could be meaningless given the UK is leaving the EU and the U.S. about to have a new administration.
