Mexican automotive exports surged 15% higher in August to reach a record 282k vehicles. That was also an acceleration from 10% in the prior three months and was led by General Motors (35% higher on new model production) while Fiat-Chrysler returned to growth (17% from a 4% decline in the prior three months. The expansion in exports came despite U.S. sales rising by just 1% – America accounted for 65% of exports in the past 12 months.
