GM, Fiat Chrysler may be targets for ZIM’s new short-haul service

ZIM Shipping has launched a new container service from Altamira, Mexico to Tampa, Florida in the U.S. The service will offer expedited service and “guaranteed space allocation” which may prove popular given the system-wide congestion in the U.S. inbound shipping industry as well as delays for traffic at the Mexican border. Total U.S. seaborne imports linked to ZIM Shipping already climbed by 24.7% year over year in the three months to Oct. 31 as the firm integrated its offerings with the 2M shipping alliance.
