Intel’s geopolitical move to U.S. should boost semiconductor machinery shipments

Semiconductor manufacturers Intel and TSMC may build new manufacturing facilities in the U.S. in response to U.S. government requests. Intel’s CEO, Bob Swan, has stated the move could be justified by “the uncertainty created by the current geopolitical environment”. China only represented 3.5% of U.S. semiconductor imports in total in the 12 months to March 31, though for specific applications the ratio may be higher.
