Navarro’s Powerhouse, Trump’s CAFE May Mean Less Disruption for Automakers

U.S. NTC Director Peter Navarro has suggested that stricter rules-of-origin in NAFTA negotiations could lead the bloc to become a regional “powerhouse” for manufacturing. For automakers that may suggest less disruption to supply chains than tariffs against imports from Mexico or a border-adjustable tax. At the same time President Trump is reported to be considering relaxing environmental rules in return for increased investment and jobs by the automakers.
