U.S. logistics employment improved by 2.8% in November versus October, bringing the level back to pre-pandemic levels on stronger warehousing and courier payrolls. While the waterborne segment improved sequentially it was still 12.9% lower than a year earlier despite surging demand for seaborne shipping services. U.S. seaborne imports have increased by 14.9% year over year in November after a 17.2% increase in October. A seasonal downturn in demand may help alleviate, but not remove, the pressure on ports’ handling capacity.
