Strike disruptions may have cut container handling at the port of Gothenburg in Sweden by 65%. That has led the operator, Maersk’s APM Terminals, to consider cutting staffing by 36%. That may be a move to get unions to the negotiating table, and comes amid broader strike action in Europe, especially in Spain. Panjiva data shows Grimaldi is the most exposed carrier on Sweden-to-U.S. routes (with a 59% market share). Major U.S. consignees include steelmaker Ovako, Volvo Cars, Ikea and commodity shipper Glencore and Outokumpu (forestry).
