The second major jobs report after the U.S. elections showed 11% fewer payrolls were added than expected by economists. The transportation industry added 14,700 jobs, the fastest since August though this does include 11,700 jobs added in the highly seasonal courier segment. Nonetheless that sector added 5% more positions than a year earlier. Warehousing added 4.6% more jobs, but that was the slowest rate since April 2014. Water-based employment was unchanged on November, suggesting the Hanjin Shipping fallout may now have passed.
