Negotiations between the EU and U.K. to secure a trade deal for 2021 and beyond this week are unlikely to yield much progress. The positions of the two sides are entrenched regarding the style of deal wanted: the EU wants a full deal per last year’s Political Declaration; the U.K. wants a narrower goods-focused arrangement.
