The USTR has launched five WTO disputes regarding retaliatory duties against America’s section 232 steel and aluminum reviews. That raises the prospect of additional duties on $28.5 billion of imports. The process is complicated by the ongoing section 301 tariff spat with China as well as NAFTA negotiations which are due to restart later this month. Canada and Mexico accounted for $13 billion and $3 billion respectively of the products targeted.
